The Israeli military set up roadblocks, cordoned off Palestinian villages and deployed reinforcements to the West Bank on Wednesday, a day after an Israeli settler was killed in a drive-by shooting by suspected Palestinian gunmen. Some 352 of the homes received final approval, while the others are at an earlier stage in the process, Hagit Ofran of Peace Now told AFP.
The incident took place in Havat Gilad, a Jewish settlement near the Palestinian city of Nablus. "We call upon all legal institutions, media outlets and authorities to side with Palestinians against those Jewish settlers coming here and vandalizing the lands", al-Qad said.
According to Peace Now, 6,742 housing projects were approved in the settlements a year ago, the highest figure since 2013. "They entrench a one-state reality that is incompatible with realizing the national aspirations of both peoples".
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu issued a statement vowing Israel's security services "would do everything possible in order to apprehend the despicable murderer".

Furthermore the hypocrisy of the Israeli government and its lobby groups who talk of "mediating and talking" when they ban and blacklist peaceful human rights organisations has been exposed.
One fatality occured at protests at the Gaza border, the second at clashes near the West Bank city of Nablus.
"The plans that were approved involve construction of more than 200 homes in [the settlement of] Oranit and more than 50 in [the settlement of] Petzael in the Jordan Valley", Israeli daily Haaretz reported.
